My DJ flimsy

I have finished my DJ flimsy, here it is ready to join the quilting queue. As you would know, I ran out of enthusiasm to complete the whole DJ. For a while there I didn't think it would be finished at all.

Not the greatest light for a photo today, and no, the feet aren't part of the quilt! But I am so happy to get to this stage. I took some creative licence with the border triangles, some are appliqued and some are prints, it became a case of better finished than perfect. I even used my sewing machine to join the triangles and attach the borders, which is quite unusual for me.

Perhaps by the time I start quilting I will love it again.

  3. Susan you've done such a stunning job, well done! I know this has been somewhat of a 'challenge' for you so you've done well to end up with this. Woo Hoo!

  4. Regardless of the modifications it's still a beautiful quilt Susan and I'm certain that you will enjoy quilting it. Such a nice idea to make a smaller version of it, and such a HUGE undertaking!

  9. Well done, you got it this far, stick it in the cupboard for awhile and when the love comes back, then start quilting it! Life is too short to work on quilts you have fallen out of love with. I love it, but I am not going to offer to quilt it!

  17. It looks gorgeous - good on you soldiering on to get it done. Maybe absence will make the heart grow stronger and you'll feel the love after a break from it!

  18. Oh I'm sure you will love it again some day. How could you not? It's gorgeous. I actually like the smaller size because of the balance. Makes me wonder if some day I could perhaps make a smaller one. More doable maybe.:)

  19. You rose to the challenge beautifully! The complexity of the blocks in this quilt is over the top & your finish is impressive. Sometimes we have a quilt that just seems to set our heads off in a different direction. I have one partially done in the closet - knowing there is reverse sewing involved and problems with it has me at odds with it - it takes time to get friendly with each other sometimes.

  20. It's gorgeous Susan...but sometimes we need to take a break and then we appreciate it again when we pick it up. I'm sure slow and steady will win in the end. xox

Will you hand quilt yours? I am still procrastinating. Yes, still only three blocks quilted, although I have almost finished my latest practice cushion.

  22. Your Dear Janequilt looks lovely !
I know that this quilt is not easy te make. i've had my difficulties too with it.
I learned from Judith (blog: Juudsquilts.blogspot.nl) how to make the DJ blocks with vlieseline H 250, that you can iron on the backside of the pieces. Do you know it and the way how to use it with the Dear Jane ?
Have a good week, greetings from the Netherlands, Patricia
